Homeschoolers on Ice

We ventured out a little ways from home to enjoy a day of ice skating.  I have to say, as a little girl I may have made up stories to my fellow classmates about me going ice skating...and being really good at it. ;)  On this day however I was not so good. What a hard sport to learn! I think since I grew up roller skating (picture crimped hair, 80's music, strobe lights, hot pink skates whisking around the rink at breakneck speeds) my brain was unable to figure out the difference between skating on ice and skating on highly waxed floors. Not to mention being on four wheels opposed to teetering on a thin piece of metal.  At least they have the ice scooters! I was so impressed with my kiddos skating around as if they had done it their entire life. My four year old especially amazed me. She was fearless! We all got joy out of seeing her sliding around. Fun memories.  Afterwards we made a quick stop to the candy shop and walked around historical downtown. Being the teaching mama that I am we had to make a stop into one of Colorado's oldest hotels. We were able to snoop look around a bit and left with a pamphlet on the hotel. The hotel is 127 years old and had the likes of JFK and others pass through. I thought out loud, if JFK stayed here...did Jackie??  As I felt a tinge of excitement my daughter says "Mom. You stood  in the same spot she did". Ok moment gone. My 12 year old had to tease me just a little. Laughter!  Overall it was such a wonderful day.

Can we say Skelfie?
